An ancient creature "woke up" after 100 million years under the seabed

Deep beneath the seabed, enclosed in layers of rocks 100 million years old, a form of life has quietly hibernated to this day. It is nothing like Godzilla or Megalodon, but it shows that life on Earth can survive in the most extreme and bizarre conditions.

Scientists have recently discovered a colony of microbes that live under the seabed and can survive in rock sediments for up to 100 million years with very few nutrients. The microbes recovered in the laboratory where they emerged from hibernation and began to multiply.

The journal Nature Communications reports that the team of scientists found the microbes after collecting a sample of sediment 75 meters below the seabed in the southern Pacific Ocean at a depth of about 5,700 meters. The microbes were successfully "revived" through a process that took scientists 10 weeks.

"These are the oldest microbes brought back to life by the marine environment. "Even after 100 million years of starvation, some microbes can grow, multiply and engage in a variety of metabolic activities once they are brought back to the surface," said Stephen D'Hont, a scientist and professor of oceanography at the University of Rhode Island.

Users of Apple devices suspect that Instagram is spying on them

Many users around the world who have installed the new version of Apple's operating system - iOS 14 have noticed unexpected changes in their devices.

Users say Instagram accesses their cameras even when they are not taking pictures.

Users say they are increasingly noticing a green dot indicating the camera is on, whether they are taking pictures or not.

The company told Business Insider that it was a bug they were trying to fix and added that although a green dot appears, it does not necessarily mean that Instagram is accessing their camera.

This is not the first time such an error has occurred on Apple's operating system.

The best photo from Saturn so far

NASA has released a new image of Saturn taken by the Hubble Space Telescope in early July.

Photography allows scientists to observe the changes on this planet.

NASA's Amy Simon says they have seen seasonal changes to Saturn over the years. NASA experts also say that in the photo they noticed the south pole which shows the changes in the winter hemisphere of Saturn.

Hubble revolutionized modern astronomy by helping scientists delve into the depths of space, as well as providing ordinary laypeople with piles of beautiful images of space that cannot be seen with the naked eye.

Worrying record Arctic hottest day on record

The Norwegian Arctic archipelago, Svalbard, broke the absolute record yesterday with a measured temperature of 21.7 degrees Celsius, according to the Norwegian Meteorological Institute.

At 21.7 degrees Celsius at 6 pm local time near the town of Longyearbyen, the archipelago had the warmest day in history since temperature measurements began in the area.

The group of islands, known as the Spitzberg, are located 1,000 miles [1,000 km] from the North Pole.

In July, the warmest month in the Arctic, temperatures in Svalbard range between 5 and 8 degrees.

Scientists say the Arctic is warming twice as fast as the rest of the planet.

Svalbard is known for its polar bears, but there is also a coal mine in that archipelago, which is the energy that emits the most greenhouse gases.

In Svalbard, there is also the "Noah's Ark" with seeds for the future in the event of a cataclysm, founded in 2008.

Created the largest 3D map of the universe

The Sloan Digital Survey project involved hundreds of scientists from a dozen institutions around the world, collecting over 20 years of data about the universe.

It is a mapping of the universe with telescopes, and with the help of these measurements, more than two million galaxies are covered, CNN reported.

"We are well aware of the ancient history of the universe and its recent history of expansion, but there is a gap in how it evolved. "We've been working for five years to fill that gap and come to some of the most important insights into cosmology in the last decade," said astrophysicist Kyle Dawson of the University of Utah, who led the study, which published the results of the project.

The 3D map revealed early materials that defined the structure of the universe, dating back to when it was 300 years old. Researchers have measured how far the universe has spread throughout history.

The team also identified a mysterious invisible component of the universe called dark energy, which caused the expansion of space to accelerate six billion years ago.

After the Emirates, China also launched a rover to Mars for the first time

China launched its first rover mission to the Red Planet this morning to explore the geology of Mars.

A six-wheeled robot has been launched from the Wenchang Space Center and is due to arrive in orbit in February next year. It is about the robot Tianwen-1, which as part of the mission will not land on the surface of Mars for another two to three months after arriving at the given position. This strategy will allow engineers to assess the atmospheric conditions on Mars before the robot lands north of the Martian equator. His task will be to study the geology of that part of the planet, above and below the surface.

This surface probe is only part of the mission as the planet's orbit will be ordered from a distance by the Tianwen-1 spacecraft that will reach Mars.

This is one of three missions to Mars in 11 days. Three days ago, the United Arab Emirates launched a satellite, and in a week NASA will send the rover Perseverance to Mars.
